OnRecord Studio

A macOS app for records investigators. Every finding traces back to the record it came from.

Findings are leads for human review, not legal conclusions.

What it does

  • Tracks records deadlines, showing which dates are sourced and which are proxies
  • Flags contradictions, missing records and late responses, with evidence basis
  • Every finding cites the exact passage in its source document
  • Analysis and documents stay on your Mac. Optional AI research sends excerpts to the provider you choose
  • Drafts records requests and appeals for you to review and send
  • Ask questions in plain language across agencies and documents

What a finding is, and is not

Every finding states the evidence it rests on. The app keeps different kinds of claim apart.

  • A statistical outlier (slower than peers) is never presented as a legal violation.
  • Where a response date is missing, the app measures to the earliest recorded activity and says that it did.
  • A finding with estimated dates is marked provisional, not certain.

Where your data goes

Built for work that cannot be handed to a third party by default.

On your Mac only
Records you import, extracted text, findings, drafts and notes. We never receive them.
Straight to public sources
Collection requests go from your Mac to agency and open-data sites. We do not see them.
To an AI provider, only if you turn it on
Size-limited, personal-identifier-masked excerpts go to the provider you choose, or stay local with Ollama. Off on a fresh install.
To WritersLogic
Your account, trial and license status, and the public thumbprint of each Mac you sign in on. Never your records.

What it does not do

  • No stored portal logins and no signing in to agency accounts
  • No usage analytics, crash reporting or advertising identifiers
  • No uploading of your records to our servers
  • No legal conclusions: a slow agency is labeled slow, and a statutory violation needs a counted one
